Akoupad
This project is featured on the profiles of: Alexandros Theodosiou
The Akoupad is a music instrument designed to enable individuals with visual and physical impairments to experience the benefits of music therapy. On each button, each musical note is written in braille. In that way, it is easier for visually impaired people to play music, without the need to memorise the note for each button. Moreover, on the back of the akoupad there are 8 auxiliary inputs. Those inputs make the pad able to connect with adaptive switches which are big buttons specifically made for people with mobility impairments.
The first seven inputs represent the seven musical notes so users can create music by pressing each one of the adaptive switches. The eighth input gives users the opportunity to use only one switch for the creation of music and each note is represented with different pressing patterns
